This amazing tutorial (see link) is all I needed, compared to the git GUI which just confuses the mind by confusing the eye. Git is done one command at a time, and it's easy. But seeing all those buttons and menus makes it look hard. Save yourself some pain and do it on the command line as described simply and completely here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVsySz-h9r4The only thing not on this video was the URL corresponding to origin, and that command was provided when I created the repo on github.com. Lutherman@DESKTOP-E4HPS16 MINGW64 /c/treebard_gps (master) $ git remote add origin https://github.com/ProfessorUdGuru/treebard_gps.git
Lutherman@DESKTOP-E4HPS16 MINGW64 /c/treebard_gps (master) $ git branch -M master
Lutherman@DESKTOP-E4HPS16 MINGW64 /c/treebard_gps (master) $ git push -u origin master Reminder to novices: git is version-control software, while github.com is just one of the websites where you can use the git software. At one time I was thinking to shop around for the best version control repo site but the others are not as helpful to someone like me who has no idea where to start.
