There's a new DOWNLOAD page on my website:
treebard.com/download.html
Now you can try Treebard and you no longer have to copy code from the repo. You don't have to install Python. Just download the .zip file at the link. Right click the downloaded .zip file and Extract all... into a new folder called Treebard.
Just inside the first directory in the unzipped package of folders and files, inside a folder called `exe`, you'll see an .exe file called `Treebard_Genealogy_Software_2024-03-15.exe`. There is only one .exe file, and by the time you read this, the name might have changed, but there's only one .exe file.
You can double-click this .exe file to open Treebard. You can right-click to make a shortcut. You can copy the shortcut to your desktop or any place on your computer, and open Treebard from there. You can copy the whole package of files and folders to a USB drive or another computer. It is portable, there is no installation or uninstallation to use or delete Treebard.
Please let me know if this works for you or if it doesn't.
If you have a 32-bit computer, it might not work. The .exe was made on a 64-bit computer and I need to find a 32-bit computer to use, so I can also make a 32-bit .exe.
There's a new video about how I made my first .exe file and how you can make yours. It took me over a week but the video's only 29 minutes long, so one of us got the short end of the stick here, and maybe it was you, because I'm the only one enjoying Treebard when you could be trying it out too.
Thanks to Tamura Jones for being the first to request an .exe. Thanks to Louis Kessler for being the first to review the Treebard project on his website.
If you like this project and want to tell others, please link to my download page, not the .zip file, as I can't have hotlinks grabbing files from my website, it's not allowed.
